Catching-the-Bus-Run Race

ROZ: Its time yet again for the much anticipated Catching-the-Bus-Run Race. The only foot race that requires control, a straight face, and an attitude that says “I don’t care if I catch the bus or not”.

MOCHA: The racers are all lined up. This is the moment they’ve been training for. It’s Monday morning, no one wants to be late for work, but more importantly, no one wants to look like a freak running for the bus.

ROZ: Indeed. They’ve been alerted that the race will begin in 5-6 minutes, and it appears most contestants have their bus tokens in hand already.

MOCHA: Definitely a good move.

ROZ: Oh! And they’ve fired the gun early! That means the theoretical bus has just past the racers. Let’s see if they can catch up!

MOCHA: Yes, catch up, without losing our respect. Number 3 is taking a casual approach, just walking with a little bit of hesitation, looking at the other racers to see if anyone is going to run.

ROZ: They look unsure of themselves and they don’t have the speed required to win the race. Not off to a great start.

MOCHA: Oh number 2 switching back and forth between a jog, sprint, and correct me if I’m wrong  - but that seems to be a full-stop. They are giving us a convincing “I’ll wait for the next bus” moment, and I am here for it!

ROZ: Very nice. Number 4 seems to have reached a good speed as well, arms straight and unmoving by their side. Upright back. Gaze straight ahead. Other than the quick movement in their legs, you’d have no idea they were running!

MOCHA: Stunning. Oh, number 1 looks to be signalling something.

ROZ: I believe they are trying to wave down the bus. A very desperate move, which will result in a disqualification, I’m sure.

MOCHA: I hope so. It’s embarrassing.

ROZ: Good god is it ever. I can barely watch.

MOCHA: Don’t look away now! Number four is approaching the finish line, slowing down a bit, so it’s not like they sprinted there..... AND THEY’VE DONE IT!

ROZ: Number 4 takes the Gold Metal and does it all while appearing relatively easygoing!
MOCHA: Join us tomorrow as we watch parents quietly yell at their children public!
